Wild About Mushrooms Co.
Spring 2013

Event Schedule

PIONEER HOTEL MOTHER'S DAY FORAY ~ MAY 10-12

Join with Wild About Mushrooms for Morels on Mother's Day, at a very special location in the Gold Country. We will base ourselves at the Pioneer Hotel in Sheep Ranch (near Angel's Camp/Hwy.4), which some old hands will recall from past forays. To say that the Pioneer is rich in history would be an understatement. Built in 1860 for gold miners, the two story, wooden frame building with wrap-around porches is just dripping with cool historical artifacts and Gold Rush memorabilia, along with the original poker room and bar.

The Hotel is not a commercial operation, but is privately owned, and used for special events. The bedrooms are very simple, with bed, table, and lamp. There are two shared bathroom and shower facilities 'down the hall'. The walls separating the rooms are thin wood...we suggest you bring earplugs or other noise-muffling gear. The accommodations are basic, but the entire establishment is fantastic.

With TWO favorite WAM chefs, Sven and Julie, joining us for the weekend, a copious supply of culinary delights will be issuing from the kitchen. WAM will provide dinner Friday night, a fabulous feast Saturday night, and awesome breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday. Guests are requested to bring their own Saturday lunch and snacks.

The foray will be led by David Campbell, WAM's foray director. There are two promising burn zones in the area to explore.

Fee: $240/person, double occupancy. There are accommodations for a few single persons. Includes lodging, two dinners, two breakfasts, morel picking guidance, and great mushroom camaraderie.

MEMORIAL DAY MOREL FORAY ~ MAY 25-27

Join with David Campbell and the WAM clan for a 3 day weekend of morel hunting and fabulous feasting. We will be camping somewhere in the mountains between the Calaveras area (where we will be for Mother's Day), and the Lake Almanor region in Plumas County, where there was a very large fire last year. It's too soon to know where the best location will be. Please let me know if you wish to be kept informed.

Fee: $220/person + campsite cost. Includes two dinner feasts, two breakfasts, and all instruction. Optional Friday evening arrival is encouraged.
